DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center Celebrates Second Anniversary ...
Durham, NC (Vocus/PRWEB) January 03, 2011
DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center celebrates their second anniversary with 3 sellouts to end the 2010 calendar year. Also, true to their mission statement, DPAC’s last three events held a little something for everyone.
For Amy Grant and Vince Gill’s Twelve Days of Christmas on December 14th fans were treated to a rare performance of Christmas carols performed by the superstar husband and wife team. America’s favorite funnyman Cedric “The Entertainer” followed with his signature style of comedy to the delight of fans and to finish 2010, the Christmas classic The Nutcracker, performed by the renowned Moscow Ballet, wowed another DPAC sold out house.
During the past year DPAC has welcomed over 307,000 guests at 151 performances with 59 of those being sellouts. 2010’s sellout events were highlighted by the Triangle’s premier of Broadway’s phenomenon WICKED. For concert fans capacity events included R&B legend Maze featuring Frankie Beverly; Grammy award winner Harry Connick Jr. and rock and roll hall of fame member Ringo Starr.
“What continues to be so rewarding is the diversity of our line-up and how positively audiences react to what we are bringing to the Triangle. From Broadway to concerts, comedy to family shows, we’ve become the region’s #1 Live Entertainment Center and our thanks go out to all of the fans of the “DPAC Experience”. More than anything we believe in great live entertainment and 2011 promises even more with superstars like Diana Ross, Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Martin, John Mellencamp and more,” said Bob Klaus, GM at DPAC.
During the year DPAC has earned several top honors including The Independent Weekly Best of Award for Live Theatre and The Herald Sun Reader’s Choice Award for Best Entertainment for 2010. DPAC was recently listed in the number position 12 in Pollstar magazine’s Top Worldwide Theater Venues for ticket sales in the 3rd quarter of 2010.
