2011 Incoming Class

LUBBOCK, Texas (June 16, 2011) – Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals volleyball head coach Jennifer Lawrence announced her incoming class for the 2011 season, which includes seven new players joining the roster.  Joining the Lady Chaps is Christa Daniel, Kacey Deterding, Kristin Fellows, Erin Fisher, Maddie Johnson, Amanda Morris and Abby White.

Daniel is a product of Aledo High School west of Fort Worth, where she played with current LCU setter Jordan Goings and played for Jordan’s mother Kathy.  The First Team All-District 5-4A selection led Aledo to a No.10 state ranking and an undefeated district season.  Aledo fell to Canyon Randall in the Class 4A UIL Region I Semi Finals.  Daniel claimed All-County (Parker) honors and was also named TGSA Academic All-State.  The 5’7” defensive specialist was a Second Team All-District selection as a junior in 2009.

Deterding was the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s 2010 All-City Player of the Year selection.  She led Frenship High School to the Class 4A Region I Quarterfinals this season for the fourth time in a five-year span.  The 5’11” middle blocker set Frenship’s single-season record in digs (362) and blocks (156) last season.  The two-time First Team All-District selection claimed Academic All-District honors for three seasons and captained the volleyball and basketball teams at Frenship. 

Fellows, originally from Roswell, New Mexico, is a local Lubbock product from Trinity Christian High School.  She claimed Second Team All-City honors by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal after 322 kills and 88 aces her senior season.  The three-time All-District (2008, 2009, 2010) honoree received TAPPS Academic All-State honors her senior season.  Along with volleyball, Fellows was part of Trinity’s state tournament basketball team as a senior and also has a solid soccer background.  She competed locally for Lubbock Lonestar Soccer Club and was part of the New Mexico Olympic Developmental Team and the West Texas Olympic Developmental Team.

Fisher is the daughter of former Lubbock Christian College volleyball player Gaye Fisher (formerly Gaye Hurst), who was a member of the Monahans High School title winning team in 1983. Erin is a 5’8” setter also hailing from Monahans, Texas.  She led Monahans to a 34-10 record and an appearance in the Class 3A UIL Region I Finals.  The three-time TGCA All-State member was recognized for three seasons in District 3-3A postseason honors, recognized as outstanding setter as a sophomore and senior and claiming district MVP accolades as a junior.  She led Monahans to the state tournament in 2009 and she earned All-Tournament Team honors.  The Texas Sports Writers Association credited her with All-State honors, and Lone State Volleyball named her Honorable Mention for Small School Player of the Year and placed her on their All-Texas Special Recognition Team.  Along with Volleyball, Fisher was a two-year letterman winner in basketball and was part of the 2009 Class 3A State Championship women’s golf squad.  She played golf alongside current Lady Chaps golfer Shelbye Hill.

Eastwood junior golfer Alexia Heist has been selected to the first team on the Class 5A, UIL All-State Golf squad. Heist finished second as an individual at last month's 5A state tournament in Austin and helped lead the Troopers to a second place finish as a team. She also won the District 1-5A individual title, helped lead the Troopers to a district championship and a second-place finish at regionals, which helped qualify the team for state. 

Heist is also a volleyball player at Eastwood and has already committed to play volleyball for TCU. She was named both the El Paso Times' volleyball  and golf Player of the Year.
